From Stuck to Strong
Before joining MSL, life felt heavy and uncertain for Sky. She had left school early due to personal challenges, and for almost a year found herself doing nothing, feeling lost and convinced she had failed.
“Life was honestly hard and boring before I joined MSL. I was stuck and unsure. I thought I was a failure. I dropped out of school in my second year, and I was at my lowest. I thought, ‘this is it’.”
Everything began to shift when a friend encouraged her to check out MSL Training. Tired of repeating the same routine, she knew something had to change. Enrolling in MSL’s hospitality course became the best, life-changing decision she ever made.
A New Beginning
To rebuild her future, Sky wanted new skills, fresh knowledge, and real opportunities. MSL’s reputation, supportive culture, and welcoming environment stood out immediately.
Her experience ended up being even better than she expected. Practical learning clicked right away, and she began discovering confidence she never knew she had.
“For the first time in my life, I actually got to use a coffee machine. I always watched from afar, and getting the chance to use one made me realise how fun hospitality can be.”

“The tutors and staff were very understanding and super helpful. Without their support, I wouldn’t be where I am right now. For the first time in my life, no one made me feel dumb for not understanding something. That meant everything.”

A strong sense of belonging also emerged along the way. Friendships formed naturally during practical sessions, shared challenges, and teamwork.
“The experience was amazing. I’d do it all over again if I could. I made new friends so quickly. We bonded during practicals and came through as a team. I thought I’d be alone, but I wasn’t.”
Skills That Shape the Future
While she enrolled to earn her Level 2 and Level 3 Hospitality Certificates, she gained so much more. Hands-on learning helped her develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and strong practical abilities. Her tutors supported her every step, and she even surprised herself by winning multiple Kahoot quizzes through effort and understanding.
Sky’s Advice
“I’d advise any newcomers to ask if you’re unsure or in need of help. I wasn’t someone who spoke up, but I learned that asking can bring you a long way. Just ask for help.”
